To our Esteemed Clients, Kindly note that in a bid to expand its tax base, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner for Domestic Taxes shall undertake a data collection exercise on rental properties with Nairobi City Council and the Nairobi Metropolis from Wednesday 19th October 2022. The exercise shall be undertaken by KRA officers who shall be required to identify themselves using the KRA staff identification cards which can be verified by dialing the USSD code *572#, through the KRA M- service App or using the KRA Thibitisha which is hosted on the KRA website www.kra.go.ke. In light of the foregoing, we wish to bring to your attention the amnesty period running from 1st January, 2021 to 31st December, 2023 wherein a taxpayer who confidentially discloses tax liabilities that were previously undisclosed to the Commissioner is eligible for the purpose of being granted relief of penalties and interest of the tax disclosed.
